Island Dragway is looking for energetic, dependable, and passionate individuals to join our team! Whether you're a lifelong gearhead or just love the energy of live motorsports, we have a role for you. We're a fast-paced, high-energy environment and we want people who take pride in delivering a great experience for our racers and fans.

  • Reliable personal transportation to and from the track

  • Availability most weekends throughout the race season (we understand occasional vacations - we just need you here most race days)

  • Strong customer service skills and patience when working in and around crowds

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended hours

  • A positive attitude and love of the sport

 

OPEN POSITIONS

Tech Inspector Our Tech Inspectors are the gatekeepers of safety at Island Dragway. You will inspect competitor vehicles prior to racing to ensure compliance with class rules, safety equipment standards, and track regulations. Responsibilities: Perform pre-race technical inspections on all vehicle classes Verify safety equipment including helmets, harnesses, roll cages, and fire suppression systems Check vehicle compliance with class-specific rules and regulations Communicate clearly and professionally with competitors regarding violations or corrections needed Maintain a consistent, fair inspection process for all participants Required: Strong automotive background - knowledge of performance vehicles, modifications, and safety equipment is essential Familiarity with drag racing rules, classes, and safety standards preferred Detail-oriented with the ability to make clear, fair, and consistent decisions under pressure

Cook Our Cook keeps racers and fans fueled up all day long. This is a hands-on, fast-paced kitchen role at the heart of our concessions operation. You will be responsible for safe food preparation and maintaining quality and consistency throughout every event. Responsibilities: Prepare and cook food items according to our menu throughout race day Maintain proper food handling, storage, and temperature standards at all times Keep the kitchen area clean and organized in compliance with food safety regulations Coordinate with concessions staff to manage food flow during high-volume periods Assist with food prep before events and clean-up after close Required: ServSafe certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to first shift) Prior cooking or food service experience required Ability to work efficiently in a small kitchen space during busy periods Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Concessions Stand Staff Our concessions team is a huge part of the fan and racer experience at Island Dragway. We need friendly, fast, and reliable people who can keep things moving and keep customers happy all day long. Responsibilities: Take orders and serve food and beverages to fans and competitors Handle cash and/or point-of-sale transactions accurately Restock supplies and keep the counter area clean and presentable throughout the event Provide friendly, efficient service even during the busiest rush periods Support the cook with food prep and plating as needed Required: Prior food service or customer service experience preferred Comfortable handling cash and making change quickly and accurately Ability to stay organized and upbeat during high-volume rushes Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

Timing Slip Coordinator The Timing Slip Coordinator is responsible for accurately printing, organizing, and distributing competitor timeslips after each run. Racers count on you for fast, accurate delivery of their run data - it's a crucial role in the competition process. Responsibilities: Operate timing system computers and printers to produce run timeslips Organize and quickly distribute timeslips to competitors following each run Coordinate with the timing tower and track officials to ensure accuracy of run data Maintain an organized and efficient distribution area in or near the return road Address and resolve competitor questions about run data professionally Required: Basic computer proficiency required; experience with timing software a plus Highly organized and able to work quickly under race day time pressures Some understanding of drag racing run data (ET, MPH, reaction time) preferred but not required - we'll train the right person

Staging Lane Director The Staging Lane Director is the traffic controller of the drag strip - responsible for organizing competitors, managing race flow, and keeping the event running safely and on schedule. This is a high-energy, physically active role that requires confidence, authority, and outstanding people skills. Responsibilities: Direct vehicles into the correct staging lanes based on class and round assignments Manage the flow of competitors from staging to the water box and starting line Communicate with starting line officials and the tower to maintain race pace Enforce track rules and safe vehicle conduct in the staging area Assist competitors with questions about run order, class assignments, and procedures Required: Prior experience at a drag strip or motorsports event strongly preferred Ability to command a busy, loud environment and communicate clearly with hand signals and radio Must be comfortable on your feet for long periods and working around running vehicles Calm, authoritative, and professional under pressure
