Track rules updates 2010

This list is presented as an aid for contestants to comply with all NHRA and New Jersey safety requirements. It is not meant to be complete. For a complete list of rules, refer to the NHRA 2010 rulebook and the New Jersey State Police Motor Vehicle Racetrack Rules and Regulations.

All competitors:

 

K98 helmets are no longer valid. All competitors required to have Snell approved helmet. Vehicles running quicker than 13.99 required to have Snell 2000 or 2005 helmet. Snell M2010 helmets will be permitted wherever M2000 or M2005 helmets are permitted.

Beginning in 2010, any driver presenting a helmet to tech that does not meet the above requirements will need to surrender that helmet to tech until the completion of the event.

 

State issued drivers license required and must be shown upon demand. By law, all competitors may NOT compete if license privledges are revoked.

New for 2010: All cars running 10.99 (*6.99) seconds and quicker must have a NHRA accepted locking type dipstick on the transmission.

2010 NHRA RULE Change: Requirements for Friday Night Street Legal cars now the same as e.t. rules. In other words, convertibles 13.49 and quicker will need a roll bar.

New for 2010: All motorcycle and snowmobile riders must utilize gloves that are leather and be either Kevlar-lined or equipped with slide buttons.

All competitors running quicker than 10.00 required to have current NHRA competition license and NHRA membership. Competitor is required to have such documentation with them on day of event.

All vehicles (except bikes, sleds) running quicker than 10.00 required to have current NHRA chassis certification.

Center steer, fiberglass or composite funnycar style bodied vehicles must have escape hatch in roof.

All vehicles in competition with trunk mounted batteries and/or fuel tanks:

A complete bulkead is required made of .024 steel or .032 aluminum to isolate the driver from the trunk. See NHRA rulebook.

For trunk mounted batteries, in lieu of bulkead, a steel or aluminum box or NHRA accepted poly box are permitted. See NHRA rulebook

 

NECK COLLAR/HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT DEVICE/SYSTEM

A head and neck restraint/device is permitted. The device/system must meet SFI Spec 38.1 and must display a valid SFI label. The head and neck restraint device/system, when connected, must conform to the manufacturer’s mounting instructions, and it must be configured, maintained, and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

 

A head and neck restraint device/system may be used with or without a neck collar. If the device/system is used without a neck collar, a head sock or skirted helmet is mandatory.

The Race Director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion does not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.
